We would like to offer you an affordable way to promote your business to our online visitors. Advertising with us will provide you with an excellent and cost effective way to showcase your company to an audience of astronomy enthusiasts and gain market exposure and sales for your product or service. Best of all, our prices are reasonable enough for even the smallest advertising budget.

If you want to attract new customers by reaching out to the 1900 visitors1 that look around our web site each month, then you should contact us today. Our website is Top Listed and has a very high Google PageRank. Advertise with us and you will be advertising on one of Canada's premier amateur astronomy websites.

We offer two advertising packages and the duration of your advertising campaign can be as little as one month or as long as one year. All advertising packages must be paid in full and in advance before ad placement will occur. Please be sure to book well in advance of special promotions to ensure placement.

The Banner Zone

Put your banner ad at the top of our main pages2. Statistics have shown that banner placement at the top of a web page produces the most favorable results. Your banner will be in an exclusive fixed position; there are no rotating banners like you see on other web sites. Therefore, you will be the only advertiser in this zone for the duration of your advertising campaign and your banner will get maximum exposure.

The Button Zone

Put your button ad in the left column of most every page3. There are five button positions in this zone, for up to five advertisers, and you may select your position, subject to availability. Just like with our banner package, each button ad position is an exclusive fixed position. There are no rotating button ads, like you might see on other web sites, and therefore your ad will receive maximum exposure.

1 The number of visitors stated above is based on the average numbers of visitors per month, over the last twelve months, and is rounded off to the nearest hundred. We gratefully acknowledge the folks at Opentracker who provide us with real-time website tracking, statistics, and analysis.
2 The term "main pages" stated above refers to the 14 pages that our primary navigation tabs and buttons, located at the top of each page, link to. Currently, these 14 pages are as follows; Adopt-A-Star, Ask the Expert (Ask the Astronomer), Observatory, Education, Outreach, Image Gallery, FAQ, Space Games, ePostcards, eShopping, Friends, Members, About Us, and our Home page. The sub-pages below each of these 14 pages are not included in the banner zone ad package, as they are reserved for the various affiliate programs in which we are currently participating.
3 The term "most every page" stated above refers simply to the fact that most every page, but not necessarily every page, in our website has a sponsored links area in the left column that can accommodate five button ads. Currently, there are over 100 pages available for button ads and more are being added every year.

Space History

January 1

On this day, back in 1801, Italian astronomer Giuseppe Piazzi discovered the first asteroid. It was named Ceres, in honour of the Roman goddess of agriculture. Ceres has a diameter of about 950 km, which makes it the largest asteroid in the Asteroid Belt. In 2006, the International Astronomical Union adopted the term "dwarf planet" and since then Ceres has been classified as a dwarf planet.

Did You Know?

A light-year is a unit of distance, not time. It is simply the distance that light travels in one year. The speed of light is 299,792,458 metres per second and therefore in one year (365¼ days) light can traverse 9,460,730,472,580,800 metres. In other words, a light-year is equal to about 9.46 trillion kilometres.
